Caring for Audiovisual Collections Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday June 21

9:00 AM  –  4:00 PM

Offered by the Northeastern Document Conservation Center

Media formats like motion picture films, audio, and video tape present unique resources within our archival collections, images and sounds that bring our histories to life. Understanding the history and range of formats within audiovisual records allows collecting institutions to meet the unique challenges presented by media collections.  This workshop will provide an introduction to audiovisual formats that are common (and not-so-common) in archives, libraries, and museums, so that participants can begin prioritizing and preserving these physical media.  Topics covered will be: proper storage, safe handling, description, and preparation for digitization of audiovisual collections.
