2:00 PM  –  3:00 PM

Asian immigrants began to arrive in Florida after the Civil War. Over the past centuries, they have played an increasingly visible role in the state’s economic, social, and political affairs. This presentation will trace their experiences and review their contributions to Florida from the late nineteenth century to the present day. The event will include discussions on the life of Mr. Lue Gim Gong (1857-1925), known as the “Citrus Wizard” of Florida, and feature guest speaker and author Professor Wenxian Zhang.
