Lunch & Learn - Colonial Plaza and the Era of Malls
Friday, July 11, noon
The opening of Colonial Plaza in 1956 marked a change in Orlando and caused a shift away from the once popular downtown business district. The plaza would undergo several changes in the following decades, including becoming an enclosed mall. By the 1970s and 1980s, Orlando was home to many popular malls, making it a shopping destination in Florida. Join Historian, Rachel Williams, as she discusses the rise and fall of shopping malls in Central Florida.
This program is being offered both in-person and virtually. If you plan to attend virtually, select the "Adult" ticket option that does not include lunch. The access link to join the program virtually will be included in your email confirmation following the completion of your order.
