Lunch & Learn -  Secession to Scandal: Civil War and Lincoln's Assassination
Friday, October 3, noon

Florida played an active role in the Civil War as a Confederate state, becoming the third to secede from the Union in 1860. In addition to providing cattle and supplies, Florida was home to Lewis Powell, one of the conspirators in Abraham Lincoln's assassination. For over a century after his execution, Powell’s body remained separated from his skull, the latter's whereabouts shrouded in mystery. Join Collections Registrar Kara Kovalev and Collections Manager Emily Coughlan as they delve into the mystery of Lewis Powell's death and Florida's connections to the Civil War.

This program is being offered both in-person and virtually. If you plan to attend virtually, select the "Adult" ticket option that does not include lunch. The access link to join the program virtually will be included in your email confirmation following the completion of your order.
