The State You're In tells stories about a mythical Florida creature that turned out to be real, a group of real people who dress up as mythical creatures and other typical tales about life in our state. A collection of columns and stories I've written over the past 30 years in journalism, they celebrate our state's glorious weirdness and praise the work of some of our best storytellers. From a ballpark organist ejected for his song selection to the violent history of a cowtown told through its rodeo, this book paints a multi-faceted portrait of what it's like to live in what ought to be declared The Most Interesting State.
