Legends & Lore: Exploring Mythic Worlds in Video Gaming

ONLINE, Saturday, February 26, 1:00-2:30pm

Ever hear of creepypasta? You’ll know exactly what it is when you join Dr. Natalie Underberg-Goode for this interactive talk how myths have been used in, and adapted into, video games, and how the internet plays a role in the creation and spread of legends. We’ll explore how different video games approach the adaptation of myths, including representations of the mythic world, its setting and rules, and how humans and gods interact. Discover the origin and development of legend quests, from the physical to the digital, and the stories people create about “haunted technology” such as video games. Share your own experiences and participate in activities that involve reimagining myths and legends, especially from Central Florida, and embark on your own legend-trips on the internet.

Link to the online webinar will be sent in the email acknowledgement after registration is complete.
